As part of my final year in PME I completed a research project during my final school placement entitled 'Critical and Creative Thinking: Improving Visual Literacy through Animation and Critical Art Studies'. Through this research project I used contemporary methods of image making that harnessed students’ digital skills and supported the evaluation of visual culture through a well-developed critical analysis framework to develop and enhance visual and digital literacy skills.

I was keen to investigate and further develop my ability as an educator to enhance the quality of students engagement in critical art studies. Art Appreciation provides students with the opportunity to be subjective and be the decisions makers in their critical choices and opinions. The results of the research showed a positive engagement in digital media studies as well as improved ability to apply critical and creative thinking skills.
