Special Educational needs
Differentiation has been a huge part lesson planning as well as the overall teaching experience. Appropriate differentiation is pertinent for SEN students, but is equally important for the general cohort of students, some of whom may learn in different ways. It has been invaluable taking the time to decipher what way different students learn whether is be visual, audio or kinesthetic, or a variety of them. This way, the way in which information is delivered in lessons can be varied.

I have a strong personal background in the area of special needs which I have found enables me as a teacher to successfully motivate students with special educational needs and work with them in a more compassionate and informed manner. During my PME, I conducted a small scale SEN case study whilst on placement. I focused on analysing the needs of on student in particular, and adapted the way I taught them to cater for their learning. This involved researching this students SEN, but also talking to the student to ask for first hand information on what they find difficult and what they feel helps them. This documented in the following screencast.
